the University of Chicago. In 1965 he became a member of the Chicago Mercantile
Exchange and is still a member of the exchange. He was active in the exchange
during the time currency futures and interest rate futures were introduced by
the exchange, and served on the Board of Governors of the exchange for ten years
during the nineteen seventies and eighties. During his period of time on the
CME Board of Governors he was chairman of many important committees, and served

Daan Joubert
Daan Joubert studied Physics at the Potchefstroom University, South Africa,
during which he spent a year at the SA National Antarctic Expedition base in
Antarctica. After receiving his degree, he returned to the Antarctic as leader
of the expedition.
On his return he joined Control Data Corporation in South Africa as a software
systems engineer and developed operating system software for 5 years before
switching to computer education at JCI’s mining support services complex in
Randfontein. This was followed by a stint in the management information
department of Sentrachem, a large chemical company, after which Daan went on his
own in 1982 to develop technical analysis software.
He has developed a number of new methods for technical analysis, including Chart
Symmetry, which he uses for his own work as an independent technical analyst and
that has earned him a place in national rankings of analysts. Apart from doing
a daily analysis of the SA bond market for a stockbroker, Daan also writes on
markets and whatever else is of interest for various places on the internet.
A
long term interest in management theory and some breakthrough discoveries,
including a formal definition of management, have resulted in a quite original
and simple solution for management problems – setting Daan up for another change
in career!
He lives in Roodepoort, South Africa, 8 miles from Durban Roodepoort Deep, and
his home is just 3 miles from where the first horizontal shaft was sunk in 1886
to exploit the gold lying under the Witwatersrand. (Ridge of White waters).
